A DUNFERMLINE man who refused to perform his unpaid work and became abusive to social work staff has been sent to jail instead.
Paul Sheerin, 21, of the James Bank Hostel, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court, which heard he completed less than three hours out of 90 imposed for an incident in the town centre.
He previously admitted that on December 12 at the Kingsgate Shopping Centre, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing and repeatedly making threats of violence towards Kyle Gemmell.
Sheerin had originally been sentenced to 65 hours of unpaid work and was given another 25 hours after breaching the order.
However, he only completed two-and-a-half hours of unpaid work in total.
Sheriff Charles MacNair said: “You’ve shown no effort to comply with the order and have been abusive to staff.”
He jailed Sheerin for three months.
