A TODDLER sense programme centre is set to open in Dunfermline next month after a planning application was given the green light this week.

The multi-award-winning, UK-wide child development programme caters for children aged 13 months to five-years-old and will open at Dewar House on Enterprise Way, replacing existing business offices.

It has been developed by Dr Lin Day, who is one of the UK’s leading parenting experts, and follows on from the hugely successfully Baby Sensory development programme.

Katie Ghilotti, franchisee of Toddler Sense for West Fife, said: “I am really delighted to have been successful and now I can move forward with it,” she said.

“I hope to be up and running in the the middle of June.”

The adventure play programme sessions will last up to one hour and are designed to stimulate the senses and help with child development.

The one-hour session is divided into two balanced phases, beginning with exploratory playtime.

Soft play pieces, inflatables and gym equipment are laid out like an obstacle course on soft matting in a different formation each week, leading to children being encouraged to explore with their parents.

This is then followed by 30 to 40 minutes of themed, class leader-led activities and music together as a group.

“There are a huge amount of kids who come through baby sensory and before there has been nothing for them to move on to,” said Katie.

“They have them in Dundee and Glasgow but nothing in the middle. Parents and carers have asked for a long time so they are thrilled that I can bring it for people to experience it and learn. I put a post on the Facebook page saying we had been successful with the council and people started responding straight away,” she added.

“Hundreds of people have been commenting on my Facebook page asking for information on when they can start and the post has already reached about 20,000 people.”
