A DUNFERMLINE woman who stole from various stores to fuel her drug addiction has been placed on a restriction of liberty order for six months.

Kylie Chalmers, 31, of Headwell Avenue, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court last Wednesday.

She previously admitted that, on April 20, 2016, at The Co-operative Group on Pilmuir Street, she did steal a quantity of meat and household items; on April 3, 2016, at Primark on High Street, she did steal a quantity of clothing; and on March 21, 2017; at Peacocks, The Mercat, Kirkcaldy, she did steal two pairs of sunglasses.

Depute fiscal Dev Kapadia explained that the items from the Co-op and Peacocks had been recovered and were worth £10 and £28. The items from Primark were worth £23.95 and had not been recovered.

Defence solicitor Sarah Meehan said her client had been struggling with drug addiction for some time but she was now stable on a methadone prescription.
