A Dunfermline family have been hit by another blow as it was revealed that a body found in a wood in Suffolk was not missing RAF serviceman Corrie McKeague.

A body was found in Brandon Wood on Sunday, leading to speculation it could have belonged to the 23 year-old who went missing after a night out in Bury St Edmunds last year.

His mother Nicola Urqhart wrote on the Find Corrie Facebook page: "It is with great sadness I find myself writing another message like this again.

"I do not know the details, only that the person found yesterday in Brandon Woods is not Corrie. My thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies are with their family and loved ones x."

A spokeswoman for Suffolk Police confirmed that the body did not belong to Corrie.

She said:"Police were called just after 8am on Sunday 11 June by a member of the public who had found the body of a woman in Brandon Country Park.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and we are are still focusing on our effors for Corrie on the Milton site."

Suffolk Police are currently searching a landfill site in Milton, Cambridgeshire for Mr McKeague, after it was revealed that a bin lorry in the area where he disappeared was heavy enough to hold his weight.

Specialist officers from Suffolk and Norfolk police have been searching through more than 4,430 tonnes of waste.

Their original search has been extended, however, they have not found anything connected to Corrie.
