A TAXI driver cut a corner and collided with a cyclist in Dunfermline.
The incident resulted in a court appearance for John Kerr, 58, of Ochil Terrace, Dunfermline.
Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf told Dunfermline Sheriff Court the cyclist was thrown onto the bonnet and struck his head on the windscreen.
He suffered cuts and bruises but did not require hospital treatment.
Kerr had said afterwards: “I didn’t see him and didn’t see his light.”
Kerr admitted causing the collision on October 4 last year in Golfdrum Street, at the junction of William Street.
He drove his car carelessly by failing to keep a proper lookout, drove into Golfdrum Street entering on the opposite carriageway, collided with a cyclist, causing him to be propelled onto the bonnet of the car, whereby he fell on to the road, to his injury.
Defence solicitor Alexander Flett said his client had been a taxi driver for 10 years and this was his first offence.
“On this occasion he admits he cut the corner,” he added.
Sheriff Craig McSherry endorsed Kerr’s licence with four penalty points and fined him £400.
