ONE of the finest acts to emerge from Dunfermline's conveyor belt of musical talents in recent years are set to take this year's TRNSMT Festival by storm.

It was announced today (Wednesday) that Moonlight Zoo will perform at the festival held at Glasgow Green on the weekend of July 7-9.

The Press Live Music Award winners of 2015 feature on a stacked line-up including household names like Radiohead, Kasabian and Biffy Clyro.

Sean Defrancesco, Jamie Adamson, Graeme Mcleod and Reece Dobbin released their second single, Breaking or Broken, in April last year, and enjoyed a whirlwind 2016.

The release of their second single Breaking or Broken, in April, provided an unexpected torrent of momentum with a number of headline shows - including a sold-out night in Glasgow at the reputable King Tut’s - and a slot at the Isle of Wight Festival, where they shared the same stage with bands such as Stereophonics and The Who.

TRNSMT is another feather in their cap, and Jamie told the Press that earning a slot at the festival on the Jack Rocks This Feeling Stage is not only an honour, but a testament to the progress they've made since their formation in 2014.

Jamie told Press:ON: "Glasgow has always been a hotbed of great bands and we have a good fanbase there now. People from all over Scotland will be heading to Glasgow over that weekend and it’s such a great opportunity to steal everyone else’s fans!"

While he jokes about pinching fans, performing at the festival is no joke.

"Getting a performance slot at TRNSMT is like getting one at T in the Park, but better," he said.

"It has already been tipped off as the festival to be seen at in Scotland this summer, so it is safe to say that we are getting extremely excited.

"Not only is playing at a major festival an amazing experience, it will be made even better this year by the fact that there are no DJ acts and the festival is predominantly featuring bands. This is promising for us to see as an emerging act, as it is a fantastic example of how much the Scottish band scene is growing and it will be great for us to take part in.

"With massive names on the bill like Kasabian, Radiohead and Biffy, it’s safe to say that we are all absolutely buzzing!

"It’s such an incredible feeling seeing your bands' name up on the poster with huge acts. We enjoyed a taste of that at Isle of Wight last year, but you just can’t beat playing at a massive festival on your home turf, can you?"

Stage times and further announcements are expected to be made shortly.

Jamie added: "I would just like to take this opportunity to encourage our hometown fans to help us cram the tent full during our performance at TRNSMT and to thank the Zoo Crew for their continued support."
