A TEENAGE boy was found by police trying to sell cannabis to people in Tesco car park.

Dunfermline Sheriff Court was told that in the early hours of the morning, police received a call saying that there was a young male jumping about in Tesco's car park in Dunfermline town centre asking if they wanted to buy weed.

Police came to the scene to find the accused who matched the same description that was explained in the phone call and carried out a search.

In the 17-year-old's possession was a grinder, iPhone, 52 plastic bags, scales, a plastic bag containing a herbal substance and 28 smaller bags that the substance had been divided into.

Two messages on his mobile phone revealed that others were looking to be supplied with drugs from him.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, previously admitted that on March 4 at Tesco Stores, Winterthur Lane, Dunfermline, he was concerned in the supplying of a controlled drug, namely cannabis.

Defence solicitor Alexander Flett said at the time of the incident his client had no income and had been asked to leave the family home.

"He went off the rails," the solicitor said.

"He has now reconciled with his family and has a job. The incident came about because he managed to bring attention to himself in the early hours of the morning."

Depute fiscal Dev Kapadia's motion of forfeiture of the teen's phone was rejected by Sheriff Craig McSherry but the forfeiture of the other items was accepted.

Sheriff McSherry imposed a community pay back order of 160 hours unpaid work and supervision for 18 months.
