The mother of missing Corrie McKeague has said her son could be found at any moment.

Nicola Urquhart wrote on the 'Find Corrie' Facebook page on Sunday that police were finding rubbish related to the time that her son disappeared meaning Corrie could be found very soon.

The Dunfermline mum wrote: "Due to the rubbish that is being found, if Corrie is in this landfill he could literally be found tomorrow.

"So we continue to wait for the phone call."

Ms Urquhart also confirmed that the search was taking a lot longer than she originally thought, because Police had found rubbish just outside the original search zone that was from the correct time and location.

The search of the landfill site in Milton, Cambridgeshire, was initially expected to take 12 weeks, but has now been ongoing for 17.

Specialist officers from Suffolk and Norfolk police have been searching through more than 4,430 tonnes of waste.

Nicola continued: "The Police will continue to search this area of the landfill until they either find Corrie or the rubbish starts clearly and consistently showing it has gone back too far in date ranges, this is why no completion date can be given as this is reviewed daily/weekly.

"Our thanks to the individual officers carrying this task out is immeasurable, I pray this search comes to an end for them and us soon."

Last week Corrie's girlfriend April Oliver announced the news of the arrival of the couple's baby daughter.

Corrie, 23, who is from Dunfermline, disappeared on a night out in Bury St Edmunds on September 24 last year.
