A FEUD between a Dunfermline man and a friend, now going out with his ex-partner, resulted in a restriction of liberty order for over eight months.

Adam Wallace had been ordered by the court not to contact his former pal but went to his home in the middle of the night after an attempt to arrange a fight fell through.

He then shouted abuse before throwing a garden ornament through a window.

Sheriff Charles MacNair told him: “Arranging a fight is not acceptable. We don’t allow duelling with fists and haven’t done so for a very long time.”

Wallace, 22, of William Street, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on June 4 he breached bail conditions not to contact the man by going to his home in Urquhart Crescent, shouting at him and smashing a double-glazed window by throwing a garden ornament at it.

He had previously admitted that on June 26 last year he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing and uttering offensive remarks in Urquhart Crescent.

Depute fiscal Alex Piper said: “The accused was previously in a relationship which ended and his ex-partner then entered into a relationship with this friend, which the accused was not happy about it.”

The depute said Wallace had attempted to arrange a fight with the other man, who failed to turn up.

“At 3.15am the complainer was at home with his partner and they were both asleep. They heard a male voice outside shouting.”

In the latter incident, the man and his partner were again sleeping at 3am when they were disturbed by Wallace shouting in the street outside.

They then heard a smash from downstairs and discovered the ornament had been thrown through a window.

The sheriff imposed restriction of liberty orders on both charges, for four months and 140 days respectively, to run consecutively.
