A DUNFERMLINE woman who stole perfume from Boots and lashed out at security staff has been placed on a restriction of liberty order for four months.

Ashley Dolan was seen trying to conceal the bottle of perfume just before security staffed stopped her but became violent towards them when they said they were contacting the police.

Dolan, 28, of Craigmyle Street, previously admitted that on June 5 at Boots in the Kingsgate Centre, she did steal a quantify of fragrance. She also admitted to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner which was likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm in that she did repeatedly shout, swear, and struggle violently with security staff.

Depute fiscal Dev Kapadia explained to Dunfermline Sheriff Court last Wednesday: "The accused is a familiar face to the security staff in the Kingsgate. She was seen taking a tester bottle from the display and trying to conceal it with her hand.

"She was stopped outside with the bottle. After she was told that the police had been contacted she started to lash out with her arms and legs and swore at staff. All of this was in full view of the public."

The bottle of fragrance was worth £50 and was recovered from the accused.

Defence solicitor Stephen Morrison said: "Ms Dolan is known to the security staff because of her daily trips to pick up a prescription of methadone. She has not shoplifted since 2005 but accepts her conduct was wrong and she is embarrassed."
