AN INCIDENT borne out of a "toxic relationship" ended in a Dunfermline man attacking his partner two days in a row.

Brian Perry, 51, of Fod Street, admitting assaulting her on April 15 by punching her on the head, striking her, seizing her and pushing her off a bed, to her injury.

The next day he attacked her again, repeatedly seizing her on the body, while on April 17, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner, shouted and uttered threats of violence towards his partner.

Perry also behaved in a threatening or abusive manner on September 11 last year when he lifted a bed, causing his partner to fall from it and onto the floor.

Solicitor Jonathan Mathieson Deer said his client had been in a relationship with the woman, on and off, for about 20 years.

"He has been an alcoholic and has had very severe problems with excess consumption of alcohol and, unfortunately, so has the complainer," he told the court.

"This has been a recipe for a fairly toxic relationship. When they both start drinking, they tend to start each other off. However on this occasion, he accepts it is he who committed these offences."

Sheriff Charles Macnair placed Perry on two community payback orders. One with a requirement of supervision for two years and for him to carry out 155 hours of unpaid work within nine months. For the offence which took place in September, he also ordered him to do 90 hours of unpaid work.
