REVISIONS to a brand new play facility in Dunfermline's Public Park have been approved by Fife Council.

In May we reported that a planning application to create a play park, which the council had allocated £228,592 towards in March, had been given the green light.

An adventure trail, climbing frames, swings, see-saws, slides and other smaller items have been earmarked for the park, which will also include a sensory area, safety surfacing, paths, picnic tables and landscaping.

Under revised plans, a cableway, hanging beam and wind pipes and talking tubes – audio play equipment – will also be included in the development, which will be located at the top of the path that leads to St Margaret's and Commercial primary schools, and east of the Louise Carnegie Bandstand.

Central Dunfermline Community Council have been working with the council on the Public Park project and the work is set to be completed in two phases.

The park used to have two play areas but one was removed on safety grounds, while the other was also due to be taken down.

As well as the Public Park, the City of Dunfermline area committee granted cash for Touch play areas, Wellwood, Rex Park, Lyneburn Park, Bull Park and for outdoor gyms in Abbeyview and Duloch Park.
