A DUNFERMLINE home owner has been left furious with Fife Council because of a huge hole that has emerged at his front door.
Rocco Gallo lives in a flat beside Viewfield Terrace car park and said the crater is "about 15 feet deep" and had been left untouched for months.
Motorists are still driving past the area of subsidence which hasn't been fixed as no-one is sure who's legally responsible.
The 54-year-old property investor told the Press: "It is really shocking that this has been left in the middle of Dunfermline town centre.
"The land is a council car park but there is a basement below it.
"A huge hole suddenly appeared and it impacted the stairwell near my flat.
"There's a plate over it but I would say it’s about 15ft deep. It's just ridiculous bureaucracy and it's not safe."
There are eight flats in Viewfield House and Mr Gallo has said other neighbours have also been vocal about their concerns since props were left in June.
He added: "There are cars driving around the car park even though it's not safe, but nothing is happening.
"All they've done is put some cones and a plate over.
"When I first went to have a look at the hole I was actually quite shocked."
Fife Council's Tony McRae said: “The ceiling of a barrel vaulted cold store belonging to Viewfield House had a minor collapse, creating a small area of subsidence in the car park above. We are currently working with our solicitors to clarify who has the legal ownership and responsibility for the maintenance/repair.
“In the meantime, we’ve put up a section of barriers to prevent vehicles from overrunning this area. We would like to remind people that they are there for their own safety and you shouldn’t cross or move them.”
