The giant seat at Dunfermline's Public Park has been vandalised just months after it was installed.

Vandals ripped one of the arms off the chair and pulled some timber off the structure, causing £200 worth of repairs.

The big chair, part of an investment of more than £228,592 in the park, was only installed in May.

Jim Stewart, Chair of Central Dunfermline Community Council, said: "Fife Council have been kind enough to fund the repairs so I'm pleased to say it has already been fixed.

"It's very much appreciated by the community council.

"We searched and searched for the arm of the chair so it could be put back but it was nowhere to be found.

"If people are looking for a bit of timber you think they would just go to B&Q!

"The giant seat is a great attraction and whenever I am passing through the park I always see family and friends taking pictures with the structure.

"We're quite proud of it."

There's more good news for the park as the community council has announced that a Gruffalo wood sculpture will be installed in School Wood.

Children from the nearby schools voted for the attraction when the community engaged in a play park consultation.

Mr Stewart added: "We have ordered it but there is currently a waiting list with the maker so we are not sure of the exact date you'll see it. "It will definitely be in the coming months though.

"Jonny Chainsaw, the sculptor, is always a favourite with the children at the Fresh Air Festival so we're excited to see his Gruffalo design.

"We're always keen to make improvements to the Public Park."
