CANADA'S largest coffee and donut firm is set to arrive in Dunfermline.

Tim Hortons opened its inaugural UK store in Glasgow in June earlier this year, with hundreds of hungry customers forming large queues outside the popular chain.

The café and bakery serves light lunches, coffees and donuts that can be eaten in store or takeaway.

Iceni Projects have applied for planning permission from Fife Council on behalf of TH UK & Ireland Ltd to display six internally illuminated signs at Unit 1 106-144 Hospital Hill, Dunfermline.

Documents relating to their application suggest it is going to be a Tim Hortons outlet, with job recruitment sites advertising Dunfermline positions.

The store will employ seven full-time and 10 part-time staff.

The space was previously occupied by The Carphone Warehouse and on Tuesday this week, Fife Council approved the change of use from a shop to a cafe/restaurant.

The proposed operational hours for the unit are between 7am and 11pm, seven days a week.

Tim Hortons were unavailable for comment.
