AN IMPATIENT shopper shouted abuse at a customer in the Co-op when they told him to get some manners.

Iain Fraser became impatient with staff after waiting in a queue and told them to hurry up.

A customer waiting in line before Fraser told him he "should get some manners" and he reacted by directing abusive language at the victim.

The whole incident was captured on CCTV but Fraser described the scene as a mutual exchange of words and that the customer was being aggressive towards him.

The 29-year-old, of Broomhead Drive, Dunfermline, previously admitted that on March 6 at The Co-operative Group, Pilmuir Street, he did behave in a threatening or abusive manner which was likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm in that he did shout and swear.

Defence solicitor Sarah Meehan told Dunfermline Sheriff Court last Wednesday that her client intended to purchase some shopping from the Co-op.

"There was only one member of staff serving and there was a lengthy queue.

"He appreciates that he asked for someone to get on the till and then a customer in front involved herself by saying he should be patient.

"He also advised to me that the complainer called his partner a tramp which prompted the abuse that he has pleaded guilty to.

"His last custodial sentence was in 2012 and his record has suffered from a drug addiction but he has now subscribed to a methadone prescription."

Fraser was placed on a restriction of liberty order for five months.
