A FUNERAL director turned one young boy's frown upside down after an act of good faith.
Nicola Duthie was walking home with her son, Alexander, when they discovered a hedgehog that had been hit by a car.
The pair bumped into Terry Hood, from Co-op Funeralcare on Dewar Street, and told him about what they had seen.
Spotting that Alexander was upset, he vowed to take special care of 'Harry the Hedgehog' and give him a decent send-off.
Nicola was overwhelmed by Terry's act of kindness and said: "It was the first time Alexander had seen anything like that and he was very surprised by it and upset.
"Terry was so thoughtful, though. He's been working there for a long time and is one of the sweetest people I know.
"He collected the hedgehog in a special box he had made up for him and made sure Alexander knew he was going to be looked after.
"We had to thank him. I got a thank-you card for Alexander to give him with a hedgehog on it and a Terry's Chocolate Orange.
"He's a true gentleman."
Terry has worked at the funeral home for 12 years and saw how upset the four-year-old was.
"I asked him why he was so sad and he told me about Harry," he said.
"I got a box for him and lined the inside of it, and wrote his name on the front.
"I received a lovely hedgehog card and I'm halfway through my chocolate!"
