POLICE received a phone call from a Dunfermline woman saying someone was smashing her windows and trying to get into her home.

The incident happened on Saturday and led to Connar Bates being arrested for throwing bricks at the her house.

Bates, 24, of Whirlbut Crescent, Dunfermline, appeared from custody at the town’s sheriff court.

He admitted that on October 14 at an address in Inchcolm Road and at Dunfermline Police Station he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing, throwing bricks at windows and causing damage to them, uttering abusive remarks and threatening violence.

He also admitted assaulting a police constable in the execution of his duty.

The court was told Bates was already on a restriction of liberty order.

Depute fiscal Dev Kapadia said: “The woman phoned the police to say someone was smashing her windows and trying to get into her home.”

Defence solicitor Roshni Joshi said of her client: “He says he is suffering from anger and agitation, leading to periods of black-outs.”

Sheriff Craig McSherry called for reports and Bates was allowed bail. He will be sentenced on November 15.
