A WEST FIFE theatre group is looking for young thespians to join them and help develop their next performance.

‘Christmas is Cancelled!’ is the working title for the play currently being devised by young members of the We’re Terrifically Adventurous Youth Theatre Association (TAYTA).

Only they know if Christmas really will be cancelled and what Fairy Nuff will do or if Santa’s helpers will stay ‘Elfy?

Director Iain Shaw said TAYTA was not about becoming a star. “First and foremost, we’re interested in the personal and social development of the young people who come to our group,” he explained. “Key themes are ‘identity’ and ‘belonging’ and we develop these through the devised plays as participants explore what they are interested in. Our drama tutors work to help the young people to develop their plays, bring out the underlying themes and develop their theatre arts and inter-personal skills.”

Rehearsals for ‘Christmas is Cancelled’ start on Saturday, October 28 at The Carnegie Hall Annex. The first session is free and those aged between eight and 12 are invited to come along from 9.30am until 11am while the session for over-12s is on from 11.30am until 1pm.
