THIS year’s Dunfermline Folk Weekend gives you the chance to hear and make authentic quality music.

The Ian Walker Band, from Glasgow, will make their presence felt at the Saturday night concert, bringing award-winning songs performed by musicians who have each shone in their own fields.

Ian Walker’s album, Singing the River, was nominated for the British Country Music Association’s Award for best album.

Ian is joined by Jimmy Scott, from Bo'ness, who has released his own solo album, 'Bread Upon the Water', and supported ‘The International Ambassador of Country Music’, George Hamilton 1V, on his UK Tours in 2005 and 2006 and at the Americana Festival, Newark, England.

The full band is made up by Moe Walker, from Holywood, Northern Ireland, who has performed as an acclaimed singer on the music scene for many years.

Supporting the Ian Walker Band will be Dunfermline Folk Club favourites 50 Shades of Blue, from Glasgow. They bring their own original material and put their own twist on old favourites – mainly folky and bluegrass with some shades of blues.

The Saturday concert starts at 7.30pm in the Thistle Tavern, tickets cost £10.

On Sunday, Sylvia Barnes and Sandy Stanage make their way back to the club.

Sylvia and Sandy have been working together since the ’70s, when they were founder members of the seminal Scottish band, Kentigern. They perform widely at home and abroad, featuring the best of both traditional and modern music and songwriting.

The weekend starts with a Ceilidh Dance in the City Chambers this Friday at 7.30pm, hosted by Bernie Hewitt on the box. Those wishing to start with a song or a tune can pop in to the Thistle Tavern at 8pm on Friday for an open session – all musicians, singers and listeners welcome – and there will be further sessions on Saturday from 12.30-4.30 pm and Sunday from 12.30-4pm.
