Commuters at Dunfermline Queen Margaret say the station has been suffering from power cuts.
On Twitter locals complained this morning that the railway station was in complete darkness, with ticket machines and information boards also out of use.
ScotRail have said there has been problems with the power supply over the weekend.
Work costing £7500 to extend the station's car park is currently being carried out, but Scottish Power could not confirm if it was linked.
A Scottish Power spokesperson said: "We apologise for any inconvenience.
"An underground cable fault was reported on October 18 (Wednesday), but work has been completed to fix that.
"It is possible there may have been a power glitch.
"However, reinstatement work is still being completed."
