A WOMAN had no money to buy a new outfit for a party and so travelled to Dunfermline to do some shoplifting.
Jessie Dalton, 62, was caught trying to steal clothes worth more than £200.
Dalton, of Townhead Gardens, Whitburn, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
She admitted that on August 30, at Marks and Spencer, High Street, Dunfermline, she stole a quantity of clothing.
Defence solicitor James Moncrieff said: “She lives with her husband but she’s trying to get him removed from their home.
“She was invited to go to her friend’s golden wedding anniversary party. However, her husband was taking any money she had to spend on alcohol.
“As a result of this, she had no money to buy an outfit for the party. She was ashamed of the fact she couldn’t buy new clothes and she stole them.”
Sheriff Craig McSherry deferred sentence for Dalton to be of good behaviour and she will return to court on January 31.
