SENTENCE on a man who threatened a youth at a skate park in Dunfermline was deferred again after the sheriff said he wanted to see the weapon he had used.

Michael Sanderson, 24, was in the dock and due to hear his fate however Sheriff Charles Macnair delayed the decision until December 13.

Sanderson previously admitted that on October 18 at St Margaret’s Drive, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause fear and alarm when he shouted, acted in an aggressive manner, challenged a 17-year-old boy to fight and produced a knife.

He also admitted that in St Margaret’s Drive and Douglas Street, he had an offensive weapon, a knife, in his possession without reasonable excuse and also that he had a knuckleduster.

In a separate incident on March 10, he had an offensive weapon, a cricket bat, in Queen Anne Street and, on the same date, was in possession of class B drug cannabis resin at Falkirk Police Station.

Depute Fiscal Jane Rennie said a group of friends were hanging around the skatepark after 9pm and became aware of the sound of bottles smashing. Two of them went to investigate and found a group of males and females. They asked them to tidy the mess but an argument started.

She said: “They left this group and a short time later the accused came to where the witnesses were and he appeared to be angry. He then approached one of the witnesses and was shouting and being aggressive.

“He appeared as if he wanted to shake one of the witnesses’ hands in an attempt to smooth things over but when the witness declined, he seemed to be further angered. The accused then stepped backwards and went into his jacket pocket and removed what seemed to be a knife and a knuckle duster.”

Sanderson, of Chapel Street, Lochgelly, was pulled away by members of the group he was with and headed out of the park.

He was searched and a knife with a three inch blade was found in his possession.
