ONE of America's smash-hit gourmet burger restaurants is arriving in Dunfermline before Christmas.

Smashburger has taken the US by storm and will open their second Scottish chain this month at Fife Leisure Park.

They opened their first restaurant in 2007 and have since expanded out of their American home.

While a date has not been confirmed officially, a spokesperson told the Press it will become the chain's seventh UK opening by mid-December.

The eatery will be open seven days a week, bringing a "slice of New York's edgy meatpacking district" to Dunfermline.

In addition to burgers, Smashburger offers grilled or crispy chicken sandwiches, fresh salads and hand-spun shakes made with Haagen-Dazs ice-cream.

The Scots have already made an influence on the brand, serving up their own suggestions as to what should feature on the menu.

The Tagais Stack was born and boasts a choice of chicken or beef patty topped with haggis, cheddar cheese, fried egg, bacon and barbecue sauce in a soft and fluffy brioche bun.
