POLICE say they are putting on extra patrols to deal with anti-social behaviour around Linburn Road.

The issue was highlighted to the Press by a local businesswoman who said she had witnessed on a few occasions youths fighting outside her premises.

On Monday, officers were called to an incident on the street which involved both adults and youths. A 41-year-old man was arrested for an assault on a 26-year-old.

Police are still appealing for anyone with information to help with their investigation and say they are working with local schools and community officers to deal with wider anti-social issues.

Inspector Ian Flynn, from Dunfermline Police Station, said: "We are aware of ongoing issues involving youths in the Linburn Road area of Dunfermline and are working with our partners including local schools and community safety officers to resolve the matter.

"On Monday 29th January, officers responded to a disturbance involving adults and a number of youths, which resulted in a 41-year-old man being arrested in connection with an assault on a 26-year-old man. Inquiries are continuing into this incident and anyone with information is asked to come forward. In the meantime, we will be providing additional patrols in the area.

"Anti-social behaviour, disorder and associated offences will not be tolerated and whenever such offences are reported to us, we will conduct a thorough investigation to identify those responsible."
