A DUNFERMLINE man has been jailed after a committing a string of offences.

Michael Ross, also known as Collins, had previously been given a community payback sentence but it was breached.

Ross, 32, of Blackburn Avenue, returned to Dunfermline Sheriff Court to be sentenced for that offence and others he had committed.

On September 12, 2016 at Headwell Avenue, Dunfermline, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing and making a threat of violence whilst in possession of a glass bottle.

On July 8 last year at a house in Burt Street, Wellwood, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by entering the property uninvited and behaved aggressively.

On the same day at Canmore Golf Club, Dunfermline, he was in possession of an offensive weapon, a snooker cue.

On November 21 at Victoria Terrace, he wilfully or recklessly damaged property by repeatedly punching and kicking a motor vehicle.

He also broke a wing mirror by kicking it.

On the same date, at Pilmuir Street, he culpably and recklessly threw a wheelie-bin on to a main road into the path of oncoming vehicles, causing them to swerve and drive on the opposite carriageway to avoid a collision.

Then at Dunfermline Police Station he shouted, swore, made offensive remarks, threatened police officers and repeatedly spat.

Defence solicitor Chris Sneddon said his client has “a long-standing problem with alcohol and drug misuse”.

Sheriff Simon Collins said because of the “sheer volume of cases and the failure of the CPO” he felt there was no alternative to a custodial sentence. He jailed Ross for 40 weeks.
