PRIMARY school pupils from across Dunfermline took to the stage at the Carnegie Hall last week to show off their moves in an annual dance festival.

Now in its sixth year, the creative dance festival brings together children of all ages from schools in the Dunfermline and Queen Anne high clusters, giving them a chance to put on their dancing shoes and perform with their friends and classmates.

Pupils from Primary 1 to Primary 7 took part, dancing routines to a variety of hits from Shakira to The Bangles.

The festival is now a two-day annual event and this year, more than 1,500 children took part from 19 primary school across West Fife.

Pittencrieff Primary School headteacher Julie Journeaux said: "Children as young as five took to the stage with their dance routines that they had created to a chosen piece of music.

"Many of the routines related to topic work they had been learning in school but many were about having a positive attitude and growth mindset.

"We also enjoyed performances from pupils at Dunfermline High School who showcased their dance skills and provided inspiration and ambition for our pupils.

"It was wonderful to see so many children respond so positively to this experience and witness the impact it had on their confidence and self-belief.

"Many commented on how exciting it was to perform on stage with professional lighting, sounds system and dry ice even though it was also a bit scary to begin with!"
