FUN for all the family will be offer at Dunfermline's Fresh Air Festival next month.

Taking place in the Public Park on May 26, the free event aims to celebrate all the fun to be had outdoors.

The hugely popular grass slides will be making an appearance again while Willow Works will be creating a unique sculpture for the park and visitors will be invited to participate before the completed work of art is installed in the park afterwards for all to enjoy.

There will be free stories for those waiting for a go on the horses and ponies and a collection of vintage cars, motor bikes, buses and fire engines will be on show.

Around the park there will be a number of sporting activities to join in for free including tennis, rugby, football, American football, basketball, and cycling.

The entertainment continues with a range of displays which will include airplanes, birds of prey, fire juggling, tai chi, yoga, chainsaw sculpting and face painting.

Traditional wind and pipe bands will be performing in the bandstand along with the best of the town's indie music scene.

Skateboard Scotland will be running a competition in the skatepark for skaters, scooters and boarders while Inflatable Hire Scotland will have a bouncy safari adventure playground, assault course, archery and laser clay pigeon shooting.

The festival will be opened by Provost Jim Leishman and Pars mascot Sammy the Tammy is also due to put in an appearance.

Tesco and Nando's will be supporting the event and offering tasters while giveaways will also be provided by Barci Chicken.

Central Dunfermline Community Council's chairperson Jim Stewart said most activities will be free – or very low cost – to ensure the event is an extremely affordable family day out full of unique entertainment and fun.

He added: “For less than a tenner you can have your face painted or a tattoo, enjoy something to eat, have a pony ride and a go at grass sledging. There are enough free things to last the whole afternoon, and we hope to see you there, along with the sunshine.”

Further information on the event, which is on from 12pm until 4pm, can be found on Dunfermline Fresh Air Festival 2018's Facebook page.
