YOUNG musicians had the chance to show off their talents last week at an inaugural fundraising gig.

The Teenage Kicks concert was the latest fundraiser for Dunfermline Children’s Gala and offered the chance to take to the stage and perform.

Some of the acts were established groups while others got their first taste of playing in front of an audience. Gala organisers are keen to include older children in their calendar of events and it is hoped it will become an annual fixture.

The budding stars who appeared at Dunfermline High were Conall Adam, Hannah Kennedy, Underneath the Lights, Plastic Mac and Between the Lines.

This year’s gala, which will have a circus theme, takes place on June 23 and the event costs around £40,000 to put on.

As reported last week in the Press, entertainment on the day will include jugglers and trapeze artists as well as the event’s usual fun and games.

The gala committee’s next fundraising events will be held in May with the rearranged Spring school concerts, which were cancelled last month because of the snow.

The performances take place at the Alhambra Theatre on May 1 and 2 with St Margaret’s, Park Road, St Leonard’s, Kings Road and Camdean primaries on the first night and Canmore, Masterton, Lynburn, Pitreavie and Dunfermline High on stage the next night.

Tickets are available from Ticketmaster or the Alhambra box office.
