SIX-YEAR-OLD Masterton Primary pupil Gemma Brown is raising cash for charity by selling her drawings at the school gates.

Unbeknown to parents Lynne and Kenny, their daughter, of Dover Drive, Dunfermline, was building a portfolio of art to sell to her friends and their parents for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Primary 2 pupil raised £13, beating her £10 target.

Lynne told the Press, “Gemma had been drawing furiously and when I asked her what she was doing she said she was drawing pictures for charity. I thought nothing of it but the next day when I picked her up from school she had a little bag of funds.

“I just thought she was taking them to show her teacher.” Requests for Gemma to draw pictures of dogs, flowers and cartoons are coming in fast from friends and family.

She recently drew a thistle for a family friend who lost her husband to cancer.

Lynne continued, “She just wants to make people happy with her pictures and cards. Gemma’s granny works at CHAS so she has been brought up with charity work but she wants to see the output for herself.” Gemma has also made plans to sell her old toys at a car boot sale, with the help of her parents, to raise some extra money for Macmillan.
