WEST Fife commuters are being warned of long delays on the Forth Road Bridge following a "significant" diesel spill this afternoon (Tuesday).

Debris is believed to have caused a vehicle's fuel tank to rupture and spill around 200 litres of fuel northbound carriageway.

The incident happened around lunchtime and three roadsweeping vehicles have been clearing the fuel using sand and detergent.

One northbound lane remains open but severe delays of up to two hours have been reported, with tailbacks beyond Dalmeny.

There has also been a knock-on effect, with a broken-down lorry on the M90 / M9 slip road at Junction 1A earlier today.
