IF birds of a feather flock together, then Dunfermline must be where they hang out!
In a rather peck-uliar weekend for the Scottish SPCA, three yellow canaries were rescued in separate incidents in the city.
The animal welfare charity was first called to help a canary found on Castleblair Lane on Saturday afternoon.
And officers must have thought someone was pulling their egg when they were contacted again an hour later about another canary, which had crashed into the window of a house on Liggars Place.
Canary number three was found on Sunday after a cat returned to its home in East Baldridge Drive with the bird, which was thankfully uninjured.
The wee birds are now at the charity’s rescue and rehoming centre in Balerno, where they’ve been named Nick, Tick and Tock, and the Scottish SPCA is hoping there will be a tweet ending in store.
Animal rescue officer Joanna McDaid said, “Given the canaries were all found in Dunfermline and are almost identical, it’s quite possible they’ve come from the same household.
“They’re being kept together at our centre and seem to be enjoying each other’s company.
“It’s likely they’ve escaped through a window or door which had been left open due to the warm weather we had over the weekend.
“I’m glad all three birds were found by kind people who helped them so we can now try and reunite them with their owner or owners.
“We’d encourage anyone who recognises them to call our animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
“They are all friendly and in good condition and if no-one comes forward for them we’ll find them a loving new home.”
