STRONG winds swept in at the weekend – but it was a daring stunt group that blew the crowds away at the South Dunfermline Gala on Saturday.

The Stannage International Stunt Team wowed West Fifers with their ‘Flaming High Fall’ show – which included fire feats, ramp jumps and throwing themselves off a 50-foot tower!

Visitors also enjoyed community stalls, inflatables, fairground rides, races, a tombola and a bungee trampoline.

Despite the high winds, gala committee secretary Morag Ure said was relieved that the rain stayed off.

She said, “We had a great gala. The wind was quite strong but it was fun – although the guy who did the high fall said it was quite scary at the top!

“They did ramp jumps and used some of the younger kids as props, and bounced the bike in the gaps between them.

“There was good crowd participation, but one of the inflatable high slides couldn’t be used because of the wind, which was a shame.

“The children seemed to like the bungee trampoline and there was a big long queue for it most of the afternoon.

“We made over £300 on the cakes and candies and teas and coffees – we had nothing left.

“It was a good day out and it’s encouraging that people do come back year after year.” Pitcorthie Community Council will hold its next meeting on 2nd September at the King Malcolm Hotel at 7.45pm, and welcomes gala volunteers and helpers. For more information, contact Morag on 01383 736651.
