ST MARGARET’S RC Church at East Port in Dunfermline is closing temporarily for renovations.

The church will undergo repainting, installation of new lighting and various other works – closing for three weeks after the 11am Mass this Sunday and re-opening for Mass at 5.30pm on Saturday 13th September.

The church’s Masses will be in Our Lady of Lourdes, Aberdour Road, Dunfermline at 5.30pm on Saturdays (Vigil) and 9am on Sundays on 30th/31st August and 6th/7th September.

The Our Lady of Lourdes Masses will be at the normal time on Sundays of 11.30am and 5pm. Weekday Masses will be celebrated in St Margaret’s Crypt.

It is the first time the church has been painted since preparations for the 900th anniversary of St Margaret’s death in 1993. On Sunday 21st September, the Catholic Youth Services Scotland are organising a national pilgrimage of young people to Dunfermline to visit the places associated with St Margaret and to pray at her shrine in St Margaret’s Church.

It will end with Mass celebrated by Archbishop Leo Cushley at 4pm in the newly painted church.
