BRITISH Heart Foundation (BHF) Scotland shop staff and volunteers were joined by Provost Jim Leishman at the opening of the Dunfermline BHF Scotland Furniture and Electrical store at Queen Anne Street in Dunfermline on Tuesday.

All the money raised from the new Dunfermline store will help fund the charity’s pioneering research.

The new store will provide quality, affordable second-hand furniture and electrical items for the local community.

Generous West Fifers have donated everything from suites, wardrobes, dining sets and beds to electrical items including TVs, washing machines, fridges and dishwashers. Selling a wide range of pre-owned, new, and vintage items at great prices, the new Dunfermline BHF Scotland Furniture & Electrical store has something for everyone.

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is Scotland’s single biggest killer; around 547 people in Fife die from CHD each year. To date, BHF Scotland stores have helped to fund 15 defibrillators and 11 healthcare professionals in the area.

BHF Scotland area manager, Sharon McNicol, said, “We’ve had a brilliant response from the Dunfermline community, receiving a range of quirky items, as well as coffee tables, TVs and sofas, but we still need more.

“We’re appealing for everyone to have a root around their home and donate any unwanted items – don’t forget we offer a free collection service for larger household items, so having a clear-out has never been so easy!” The BHF Scotland Dunfermline store offers a free collection service for larger household items which can be arranged by contacting the store directly on 01383 441670 or booked online at bhf.org.uk/free.
