A GROUP of trampoliners are gearing up to smash a world record and raise money for a breast cancer support charity all in the same night.

Cindy Worth (34), from Rosyth, is a fitness trainer with a passion for Boogie Bounce – an activity which uses aerobics and mini trampolines to exercise.

She has enlisted the help of her fellow enthusiasts from around the UK to take on the world record for the most people to work out simultaneously on trampolines.

The current record was set earlier this year in New York, with 310 bouncers taking part, and Cindy is hoping to smash it when Boogie Bounce classes around the country link up to do the same 45-minute routine.

“I was thinking of lots of different ways to raise money and I had just qualified as a Boogie Bounce instructor so that’s what got me thinking about it,” she said.

“I contacted the Guinness Book of World Records, who told me about the current one and now we’re going to try to break it.” It’s not just about breaking world records though, as Cindy also wants to raise money for Breast Cancer Care through sponsors and donations for the event, which she is calling Bounce 4 Boobs.

“I wanted to raise money for breast cancer,” she said. “I know a few Dunfermline women who have battled the disease and done a lot for breast cancer.

"I’ve stood by them as they went through treatment and surgery and when they came out at the other end and now I want to do something to help.” One of Cindy’s friends is Donna Williamson (52), an employment liason officer for West Fife Enterprise. Donna, who lives in Crossford, was diagnosed with breast cancer around three-and-a-half years ago and found out that she has secondary cancer five months ago.

“I think what Cindy is doing is a really good thing,” she said. “It raises the awareness of both older and younger women.

"It’s especially good for youngsters to get involved and make themselves aware of it.” Although Donna might not be able to attend Bounce 4 Boobs, she believes that drawing attention to the disease is very important.

“Cindy is a good friend and it’s a cause quite close to her heart,” she said. “I don’t know if I’ll be able to make the event as I go for treatment every week but I’ll be hoping she beats the record and raises some money and awareness because raising awareness is just as important.” Bounce 4 Boobs is just one part of the Fit Fife health and fitness exhibition that is taking place at the Glen Pavilion on Sunday.

The day kicks off at 10am, with Bounce 4 Boobs starting at 12pm, and Cindy is the driving force behind the event.

She wants to showcase the different activities and programmes that people can do to keep fit in Fife.

“I’ve not long qualified as a fitness instructor and I thought it would be really good to put on an event to show everyone what’s out there,” she explained.
