WEST FIFE teens will now get to share their views on Dunfermline and help shape its future via a new initiative.

The business improvement district company has set up a dedicated space on its website where young people will publish regular blogs on a range of topics, including local businesses, what's on, issues affecting teens and reviews of the city's restaurants, events and shops.

Dunfermline Delivers is providing the platform to youth groups Synchronicity and Navig8 at Create at Cloud, a charity which provides training and workshops, including writing, music and photography.

The partnership is part of Create at Cloud's mission to provide Dunfermline's young people with skills and opportunities to help them for the next stage in their studies or expose them to different roles that could help determine their future careers.

Create at Cloud project manager Angela Harris said the teens had a lot to offer.

She said, "They are a hardworking bunch, keen to get involved, and have helped out at the Bruce Festival and also the recent Highland Games.

"They also run regular events at PJ Molloys and are gaining valuable skills in areas such as fundraising, sales, financial planning and administration - all things that potential employers will appreciate."

It's hoped that businesses will also get involved in providing valuable experience to Dunfermline's young people, especially at a time of high youth unemployment.

Maggie Mitchell (pictured), Dunfermline Delivers chief executive, said, "Listening to our young people and having their voices heard is extremely important as often they see things from a totally different perspective.

"There is so much to be gained by getting involved - reviews, mystery shoppers, social media engagement - the opportunities are endless and the benefits to our young people, significant. We are confident that by providing a space on our digital platforms, new ideas will come forward and that is hugely positive."
