NETWORK Rail are currently waiting to inspect the railway bridge that a Rosyth lorry became lodged under this morning.
The lorry, which was a Flemings of Rosyth removal vehicle, got stuck underneath the 11ft 6” bridge on Elgin Street at 8.37am this morning (Tuesday).
The male lorry driver was confirmed to be “walking wounded” by Police Scotland and the Press understand that he was shaken up by the incident but not seriously hurt.
Nick King, media relations manager for Network Rail, said, “The bridge inspectors are currently at the scene looking waiting to look at the bridge.
"The bridge is on a freight line therefore it is not used for passengers and only for transporting goods.
"The line isn't regularly used so there is little disruption.
“Nine times out of 10 the bridges are OK – they are pretty robust but precautions must be taken.
“However, we will not know the state of the bridge until a specialist engineer looks at it fully.
"Once the lorry has been removed and the police have finished with their enquiries we will be carrying out our inspections.” Barbara Fleming, daughter of the owner of the removal company, did not wish to comment on the matter when contacted by the Press but confirmed the driver was OK.
