TV PRESENTER and explorer Dr George McGavin will be holding a talk on Wednesday at St Andrew’s Erskine Church.

McGavin is most recently known for his BBC series Monkey Planet. He is also a regular as ‘The Bug Man’ on BBC 1’s The One Show and has had numerous species of insects named after him.

He will be holding the talk at 7.30pm in the Dunfermline, Robertson Road church to promote the consumption of insects - which he refers to as “flying prawns!” McGavin’s talk ‘Tales from Television: Bringing the Animal World to Your Front Room’ is one of many being held by the Royal Scottish Geographical Society as part of their Inspiring People series to introduce their audiences to new ideas and experiences from around the world and encouraging them to go on their own adventures.

"Dr McGavin’s journeys around the world researching and capturing on film fascinating primate behaviour inspires a desire in all of us to continue learning about our planet."

The talk will also include behind the scenes stories from his hit BBC show, Monkey Planet for which the filming for saw McGavin make the journey from snowy peaks to tropical rainforests in search of facts about a fascinating range of primates.
