DUNFERMLINE MSP Cara Hilton will be at the Queen Margaret Hospital on Monday to call for a review into NHS Fife.

Cowdenbeath MSP Alex Rowley is urging West Fifers to back a petition demanding a health service that is 'Fit For Fife' and wants an immediate independent review of Fife's problem-plagued health board.

He is continuing his campaign after health secretary Alex Neil ruled out an inquiry at Holyrood in September.

Mrs Hilton is backing the petition, and said, "Unfortunately too often people in Dunfermline and across Fife are being let down as a result of under-funding, under-staffing and an NHS that is under increasing pressure.

"Yet rather than respond to this growing crisis, the SNP health minister, Alex Neil, is happy to bury his head in the sand and hope it goes away.

“Our NHS deserves better than this and I am calling for more funding for our NHS in Fife and a major independent review of health and social care services and their current ability to meet the growing demand being placed on them in Dunfermline and across Fife.

"I will be demanding that the reinstatement of A&E and maternity services for Dunfermline be fully considered as part of this review, as well as identifying the true picture of health needs in Dunfermline and across Fife.”
