FAMILY and friends are paying tribute to a well-loved member of the Pars community, Alastair ‘Robbie’ Eglington, who sadly died aged just 38 last week.

His grieving family are still waiting to be told the cause of death.

Close friend Graeme Wood, of Iona Road, told of how he asked Alastair to be godfather to his five-year-old daughter, Jazmine.

“Robbie was like a brother to me and after Jazmine was born he spent a lot of time with her and had a natural connection,” he said. “I knew I wanted him to be Jazmine’s godfather before she was born.” Alastair grew up a massive Pars fan and his mum took him to his first game along with brothers Mark and Andy to see the centenary match against Aberdeen at East End Park in 1985, getting off to a good start in his Pars-following days with a 1-0 win.

A well-known face among the Dunfermline support, Alastair was a regular in The Elizabethan pub and was also a member of the Elizabethan Pars Supporters Club.

A loving husband to wife Coralie and proud father to sons Callum (13) and Lewis (12), Alastair was dearly loved by his family and friends, to whom he was often known by the nicknames of Robbie or Rab.

Alastair died on Tuesday 9th December and his funeral will take place at Logie Kirk in Stirling on Tuesday 23rd December at 11am.
