DUNFERMLINE and Rosyth train stations have received enhanced cycle parking as part of a country-wide project by First ScotRail.

The new cycle shelters provide space for 10 bikes and are part of a wider project which, since September of this year, has delivered more than 170 additional covered cycle parking spaces across the country.

Earlier this year, ScotRail also installed 150 additional cycle spaces at stations throughout the Strathclyde area.

The focus of this initiative is on making it easier for customers to have a sustainable commute and to create more demand for cycling to busy commuter stations by providing improved facilities.

Fifteen other stations, aside from Dunfermline and Rosyth, have benefited from new cycle spaces this autumn, including Cowdenbeath.

Des Bradley, ScotRail’s transport integration manager, said, “More and more of our passengers are using bikes as part of their daily commute or leisure travel and we want to make it as easy as possible for them to complete their journeys.

“Installing more cycle parking will ensure we continue to provide a high standard of customer service.”
