YOUNG pupils at a Dunfermline primary school got to see a ‘happy ever after’ unfold in front of them with a magical fairytale wedding!
Kids from Commercial Primary School looked on in delight as a real-life minister conducted the ceremony for two not-so-fearsome dragons, named Hexella and Custard.
The Primary 1 pupils had been learning about fairytales and were trying to bring the magic of fairy lands to their classrooms, with a little help from teachers Mrs Aitken and Mrs Matthews. The pupils found a dragon to live in their land and on one of their outdoor walks discovered another in the woods.
The children thought that it would be a great idea for the dragons to marry after learning about weddings as part of their health and wellbeing classes, so they decided to throw a fun ceremony for the two cuddly creatures!
“They had a wedding following traditional customs such as exchanging rings,” explained Christine Margetts, depute head. “One of the teachers also baked a real wedding cake and there was a proper minister there too.
“The children had a great time and we hope it’s one of those memories which stays with them for life.”
