A MAN has died following a street row in the early hours of this morning (Sunday) close to Dunfermline Bus Station.
In a statement issued within the last couple of hours this afternoon, police confirmed "an altercation" occurred on Queen Anne Street around 2am between the two male occupants of a red-coloured Vauxhall Astra and a male and female pedestrian.
A 26-year-old man was firstly rushed to Dunfermline's Queen Margaret Hospital and then the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, where he later died.
Officers are now urging anyone who has information that can assist with their enquiries to come forward.
Detective Inspector Stuart Wilson, who is leading the investigation, said, “We’d like to reassure the public that we’re pursuing various positive lines of enquiry to ensure the full circumstances around this incident are ascertained.
“A man has sadly lost his life and we’re asking for any witnesses who saw this incident to come forward as soon as possible.” Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
