The challenge to complete an animated story of between 30 and 90 seconds attracted teams from across Scotland, and the students from Fife College's Halbeath Campus found themselves up against university teams and professional animators.
The team of Dale Carrie (NC Design and Digital Media), Martin Woolley, Connor Rankine, Jeanette Marshall (HNC Design and Digital Media) and their tutor Colin Maxwell came up with the animation idea “Say Cheese” which tells the story of a hapless photographer's attempts to take a family portrait photograph.
Student Dale Carrie said, “It was daunting to compete against others who have done animation at university or have been working in the industry, but when we saw our final animation at the screening, along with all of the others, we realised that we had made something that really stood up against the competition.” Tutor Colin Maxwell said, “I'm really proud of the students who worked tirelessly throughout the weekend. They really worked together as a team and I hope we can put a team together for next years Animation Jam.” Watch their animation below:
