A DUNFERMLINE vet nurse came out top dog in her cat-egory at the Petplan Veterinary Awards.

Audrey Kelly, of Inglis Veterinary Hospital on Halbeath Road, was awarded the title of Vet Nurse of the Year at a ceremony last Thursday in Birmingham.

Her long-term dedication to teaching students and caring for animals in the UK and Malawi helped the judges decide in her favour and she received the accolade from TV’s Alexander Armstrong.

Audrey said, “The Petplan Veterinary awards are amazing. “I can’t believe I’ve been nominated, let alone that I’ve won! I’ve spent 27 years in veterinary nursing and now I’ve received this fantastic award – it feels so very special.” Petplan’s Isabella Von Mesterhazy said, “The Veterinary Awards are Petplan’s way of saying a huge ‘thank you’ to those members of the veterinary profession who care for the nation’s pets with such dedication.

“Whether it’s for a routine check-up or a more unexpected illness, these committed individuals and teams really are irreplaceable and it’s wonderful to be able to thank them in such a public way through these awards.

“We’re elated to be able to announce our deserving winners and congratulate them on their fantastic achievements.”
