ASSAULTS made up more than a quarter of crimes reported in the central community policing area of Dunfermline over February and March.

Statistics presented to the City of Dunfermline area committee revealed that from 26th February to 26th March, 65 crimes had been reported including 17 assaults, 10 of which were detected.

There were also 13 shoplifting incidents, with 11 detected, as well as other thefts from housebreaking (one), motor vehicles (two) and nine other general instances.

Other crimes reported included seven offences of threatening and abusive behaviour, five vandalism reports, three road traffic offences, three misuse of drugs offences, three breach of the peace incidents, one police assault and one fixed penalty ticket issued for urinating in a public place.
