Forensic officers in white suits have been working at the scene, close to the library on the estate, throughout the morning.
Detectives have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with the death, which they describe as “suspicious”.
Officers were called to the scene at around 8.30pm last night following the death.
The incident is understood to have taken place in one of the flats near the library.
A police spokeswoman said, "Police in Fife were called to an address in Abbeyview, Dunfermline, following the death of a 28-year-old man.
"The incident was reported to police last night (Thursday 30th April) at around 8.30pm. A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death. Enquiries are currently ongoing.” There will be more updates on the Press website as we receive them.
