NEW road signs have just gone up on Coal Road, Dunfermline, stopping vehicles longer than five meters from using the road.

The City of Dunfermline area committee approved this restriction in January 2015. Any vehicles longer than five metres are no longer allowed to use Coal Road and must find an alternative route. Failure to do so could see the driver being reported to the procurator fiscal.

Councillor Helen Law, chair of the City of Dunfermline area committee, said, “There have been a number of incidents on Coal Road where large vehicles have got stuck, causing damage, delays and danger to other drivers.

"Despite signs warning drivers the route is unsuitable for large vehicles, these incidents continue to happen. This new restriction should bring an end to this problem.” The restriction is enforceable, placing a legal responsibility upon the driver to find another route.
