PLANS have been submitted by Marston Inns to increase the size of the hotel they want to build at Fife Leisure Park in Dunfermline.

They already have permission for a 26-bedroom facility, as part of the deal that saw the Sweet Chestnut restaurant open up last summer, but asked Fife Council for an amendment.

The new plans state they’re looking for an increase in floor area and an agent for Marstons said, “A small reception is now proposed, a change to the position of the stairwell (moving from the rear of the building to the front) and also the configuration and type of rooms.

“The elevations need to alter to include provision of the remote reception, which involves swapping two doors and two windows with four bedroom windows with alteration to internal layout.

“Increased length of door return in double bedrooms may be required and the entire length of the hotel increases by approximately two metres.” The building of the hotel has always been put on hold and Marstons told the Press this week that, if permission was granted, there were no immediate plans to start work.
